Lesson 2: Archetypes & Rasa Six

The Warrior archetype

As a fierce and courageous deity, Goddess Kātyāyanī embodies the Warrior archetype in Hindu mythology. She is depicted riding a lion, with weapons in her eight arms, ready to fight the evil and protect her devotees. But her battles are not limited to the external realm, as she also represents the inner strength and the ability to conquer one’s own fears and doubts.

The Liberator archetype

Kātyāyanī is also known for her role as a Liberator, as she helps her devotees break free from the shackles of ignorance and delusion. Her teachings and blessings lead them to liberation from the cycle of birth and death, and to a state of ultimate consciousness and enlightenment.

The Rulers archetype

As the supreme authority and the ultimate ruler, Kātyāyanī represents the Ruler archetype. She establishes order and harmony and ensures that the balance of the universe is maintained.

Raudra Rasa

In terms of rasas, Kātyāyanī ignites the energy of Raudra, which is often translated as “fierce” or “angry” but can also mean passionate or intense. This energy is associated with the qualities of anger, power, determination, and destruction of obstacles. It is important to note that Raudra energy should not be confused with negative anger or violence, but rather with the passion and intensity required to fight against evil and overcome obstacles.
