Lesson 2: Archetypes & Rasa Seven

The Destroyer archetype

The Destroyer archetype of Kālarātri is a reminder that in order to grow and transform, we must release what no longer serves us. With her fierce energy, she teaches us to embrace change and accept the cycle of life, including death, as a natural part of that process.

The Dark Goddess archetype

As a Dark Goddess archetype, Kālarātri challenges us to confront our deepest fears and limitations, to integrate our shadow selves, and to become more whole as individuals. According to Jung, spiritual growth and individuation require the integration of the shadow, and the ability to face and transcend our deepest fears and limitations.

The Warrior archetype

Kālarātri is a fierce representation of the Warrior archetype, embodying the strength, courage, and determination necessary to face the challenges of life. She represents the ultimate battle against ignorance and false beliefs, urging us to fight against the darkness within and without, and to strive for the ultimate truth. She represents the ultimate battle against ignorance and false beliefs, leading us towards the path of total integration and enlightenment.

Bhibhatsa Rasa

Kālarātri’s energy is unique and powerful, associated with the rasa of Bhibhatsa, which evokes a sense of disgust, horror, and terror. This rasa can be unsettling, but it is also essential for growth and transformation on our spiritual journey. By confronting our deepest fears and negative emotions head-on, we can break free from the limiting beliefs and patterns that hold us back. Kālarātri’s energy inspires us to face the darkness within ourselves and in the world around us, to embrace the shadow aspects of our psyche, and to become stronger and more resilient in the face of adversity.
