Reflections from my exposure to the prompts, excerpts & content for this week:

What struck me?
You have done all that you can do and nothing is happening. You have done all that is humanly possible. Then what else can you do? In sheer helplessness one drops all search.

My reflections:
Very relatable feeling.
Is this despair? Or is this acceptance?(and hence rooted in the NOW). One just is okay being here.
I am reminded of Sisyphus.
In the moment that the rock rolls down and he follows it down and then, at the moment when he decides to push it back up..
One wonders what he feels. We 'imagine' him happy - like Camus says.
But I wonder what his mental dialogue is?

What struck me?
If the whole existence is purposeless then there is no need for you to be purposeful. Then you can play, you can sing and dance, you can enjoy, you can love and live, and there is no need to create any goal.
My reflections:
Some of the greatest icons are those who showed us how one could make us feel free - and many of them die young.
Marley, Cobain, Lennon, Morris - they lived long lives but had an impact. Through them people felt a certain way.
But we measure life in length & years and NOT in the quality of the living.
It made me question this.
But this again brings me to the question - how do I want to measure my life?
And hence how do I GIVE it meaning?

What struck me?
If you have intelligence, you would like to live your own life on your own terms. You will not compromise. You will live like a Jesus. Even if it means crucifixion, it’s okay. Jesus died on the cross, but died with a self, died with a discovered self.
My reflections:
It's very hard to live entirely on your own terms.
It needs a lot of effort.
A lot of continuous effort.
All around you, you are surrounded by people.
Some you like, some you dont.
But you end up comparing & choosing what's good / not good all the time. So then you end up choosing some as good (and end up making others bad).
And hence in the process, you start 'voting' for a way of life. Every choice made & option chosen also includes the multitude of options NOT chosen.
And as you choose something as good, you automatically start gravitating towards it.
You will choose it again and again.
If you think it is 'good' to be vegetarian or to have a fit body, you will choose vegetarian food every time or will choose a healthy option.
And in doing so, over time, you develop a pattern and get 'caught' in it.
And you also start associating / relating with others who have similar patterns as you 🙂
To NOT get attached to these patterns & to stay truly independent needs tremendous mental effort to not get attached to this identity.
At it's core - it's about not judging or bucketing things. And that, for the mind is hard because judging & simplifying things are it's most natural tendencies.
