Lesson 2: Archetypes & Rasa

The Lover Archetype
This represents the passionate and sensual aspect of Śailaputrī. In Indian mythology, she is often associated with the divine love between Shiva and Parvati. The image of Śailaputrī mounted on a bull, symbolizing fertility, is also suggestive of this archetypal energy.

The Rebel Archetype
This represents the fierce and independent aspect of Śailaputrī. As the first manifestation of Durga, she is a symbol of the ultimate feminine power, challenging the status quo and fighting for justice. She inspires us to stand up for ourselves and for what we believe in, and to break free from social norms and limitations.

The Protector Archetype
This represents the nurturing and caring aspect of Śailaputrī. As the Radiant Protector, she shields us from harm and brings us blessings and abundance. She is the ultimate mother figure, providing us with the love and support we need to grow and thrive.

śṛṅgāra Rasa
In terms of Rasas, the energy of Shringaar can be evoked through these Archetypes of Lover, Rebel, and Protector associated with Śailaputrī. Shringaar is the Rasa that encompasses love, beauty, and sensuality. Śailaputrī’s radiance and beauty, as well as her association with the love between Shiva and Parvati, can evoke this Rasa. Her rebellious and protective nature also add a sense of excitement and passion to the Shringaar Rasa.
